Planning your portraits
Who is Robert and where does he work?
I’m based in Chanhassen and photograph families, seniors, weddings and sports across the Twin Cities and beyond. Tell me where you have in mind so we can discuss your plans.
How do we start and who makes the call?
Book a 15-minute phone consultation using the consultation link. Leave the best callback number, and I’ll call you at the booked date and time.
Where can family portraits take place?
At home, by the lake or somewhere meaningful to your family. I work in Chanhassen, Lake Minnetonka, Edina, Wayzata, Orono and around the Twin Cities, and can help choose a setting.
Can grandparents and pets come?
Yes. Tell me who will be joining us so we can plan a session with everyone in mind.
How long is a portrait session?
Family and senior portrait sessions include up to two hours of photography. We’ll confirm the plan for your session.
What are the current portrait collections?
The same three collections are available for family and senior portraits. Choose your collection after viewing your finished photographs.
- Five favorites: $695, with 5 high-resolution digital images and $100 Pic-Time store credit.
- Ten favorites: $995, with 10 high-resolution digital images and $300 Pic-Time store credit.
- The complete collection: $1,295, with every finished digital image in the delivered gallery and $500 Pic-Time store credit.
How do the deposit and print credit work?
Your booking deposit is applied to the collection price. The listed print-store credit is a separate benefit for prints and artwork in your Pic-Time store.
Is a book included?
Portrait books are available as an optional additional purchase. They are not included with your session. If you’d like a book, we can discuss what you have in mind.
When will we get our first look?
For a family session, you’ll receive a slideshow of 10–15 highlights within three to five days. That first look is separate from a promise about final gallery delivery.
How many photographs will we receive?
A typical finished family gallery includes 50–150 images, sometimes more. The number varies; the digital images you receive depend on your chosen collection.
Can a senior change outfits and locations?
Yes. We’ll plan clothing changes and different settings together, including the timing and locations before the session.
Can we include interests or bring a parent?
Yes. Sports, music and other interests can be part of the photographs. A parent or someone who helps you feel comfortable is welcome to come along.
What should a family wear?
Start with an outfit you like and build a small shared color palette. Mix textures and gentle patterns. Choose comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring a spare outfit for little ones.
What should a senior wear?
Bring clothes you enjoy wearing, with a casual look and something dressier if you like. Meaningful uniforms, instruments or gear can help make the session personal.
What time is best for outdoor portraits?
I usually suggest the two hours before sunset. Early morning can work too. We’ll choose a start time around the season, location, weather and your family’s routines.
How are books designed and how long do they take?
I select photographs and create an initial design for you to review online. We refine it together before production. Allow four to six weeks after final design approval for printing, binding and finishing.
What happens if the weather changes?
We’ll discuss a different plan or reschedule if the weather will not give us the session and photographs we want.
Can our photographs stay private?
Tell me your sharing preferences before photography begins. We can discuss publication permission and any confidentiality requirements in advance.
Weddings
Do you photograph engagements?
Yes. An engagement session is a chance to spend time together and feel comfortable in front of the camera. Explore engagement photographs. Read about planning an engagement session that feels like you.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. I photograph celebrations in Minnesota and destinations beyond. Share the location and the shape of your plans so we can discuss coverage and travel.
How much coverage will we need?
We’ll start with the people and moments that matter, then shape coverage around the day. Hours, photographer arrangements, delivery timing and the finished book are confirmed in your proposal. Can our photographs remain private?
Yes—let’s discuss your preferences before photography begins. Publication permissions and any confidentiality requirements should be agreed in advance. Read this quick tip on sharing your wedding on your terms.
Sports
How much does sports photography cost?
Coverage starts at $450 for one game, for an individual athlete or the whole team. It includes game-time photography, two to three hours of post-production, and finished images delivered in a downloadable gallery. Typically, 100–300 images are delivered, though the number varies by sport and game. View sports coverage, shared options and pricing.
Can you concentrate on one athlete?
Yes. Individual coverage follows your athlete through the game or event, looking for effort, reaction and the moments between plays.
Can parents share the cost?
Yes. Two families can split the cost of shared athlete coverage. A third athlete may be possible depending on the sport, with any additional fee agreed before booking. Parents can also split the cost of whole-team coverage; photographs of every player are not guaranteed.
How do we arrange access?
Share the venue and event details when you inquire. Coverage depends on the necessary venue, school or organizer permissions.
