I create a book for every client. From choosing the photographs to shaping the flow of each spread, I bring your story into a finished volume made to be held, shared, and lived with.

A family vacation. An anniversary. A birthday party. A studio portrait or an October afternoon together. Any occasion can become a book—a chapter of your life, given a place in your home.
I begin with the story as I saw it. Together, we make it yours.
I personally select a small collection of favorite images to share with you—a first look at the moments, expressions, and connections that stood out to me.
I choose the images and design your book from beginning to end. A journey can unfold across the pages. A celebration can bring you back into the room. A portrait book can hold the small expressions that make your family yours. Each image gets the space it needs, and each spread leads naturally to the next.
You review the design online, wherever you are. We can add favorite images, remove others, and refine the sequence together. My first design is a starting point, and your approval comes before the book goes into production.
Once you approve the design, I prepare your book for printing. Handmade in Arizona, each volume is made to be opened, shared, and returned to. Over time, a vacation, a celebration, or a family portrait session becomes another chapter in your own library.
Because each book is handmade, please allow four to six weeks from your approval of the final design for printing, binding, and finishing.

For more than three decades, I've been trusted to photograph people's most important moments—sometimes publicly, often privately. I take that trust as seriously as the photographs themselves. My job is to see what others might miss, to know when to step forward and when to disappear, and to leave behind photographs that feel like the life you actually lived.
Returning year after year brings a different kind of connection. There is room for the children to grow, personalities to unfold, and the photographs to become part of a larger story.
A relaxed approach, gentle direction when it helps, and attention to the moments that happen in between. The people remain at the center of the day.
Tell Robert what you are comfortable sharing and what you would like to keep private. Publication preferences and any confidentiality requirements can be discussed before the photography begins.

You do not need a wedding or a milestone to bring a photographer along. A beach afternoon, a walk through a new city, or an unhurried day together can be the heart of the story. I photograph your vacation as you enjoy it, so everyone—including the person who usually takes the pictures—can be part of the memories.
Nantucket · The engagement weekend · 2022
I stayed in the house with the family for this engagement weekend in Nantucket. Being there meant photographing more than the celebration: quiet mornings, outings around the island, meals together, and the last light on the water.

I was lying flat on my stomach in the middle of County Road 91 in Douglas Wyoming.
The asphalt was rough. Hundreds of cows were mooing all around me. Cowboys and cowgirls were working somewhere beyond the frame… trying to keep nearly 400 head of cattle moving in the same direction. And I was doing my best to find one small patch of pavement that didn’t have cow manure on it.

A father took this photograph on what would become one of the most ordinary—and most important—days in a boy’s life.
At first glance, this is simply a photograph of a little boy getting his first haircut. But photographs are rarely simple. The more you look, the more they begin to speak.
Your eye is naturally drawn to the little boy sitting in the barber’s chair. Then it begins to wander. You notice the barber’s face reflected in the mirror. The old cash register with a 25¢ sign.
